On Saturday we were lucky enough to have Veronicah come and speak to us about her journey. I was really impressed with her talk. She had a very strong opinion that she makes her art for herself and she isn't worried about others opinion. It is very hard sometimes to remember this sentiment especially when you are preparing work for a show. However, maybe sharing your love of something with others to inspire, create, discuss is more important. It doesn't need to be about if someone else likes it or not. Veronicah also talked about her journey in quilting and only knowing what you know at that point in time. Making mistakes being a design opportunity and not following patterns were things I'm sure this resonated with a lot of us.
